nebulia: a nebula (katsushiro)

I felt like writing Samurai 7. So I'm writing it. Entirely and completely unedited, typed directly into the livejournal text box. Read at your own caution.

She didn't marry.

She didn't have to marry; everyone knew she'd been through such an awful time, captured by those horrid Nobuseri, and she'd been to the Kogakyo twice, and been so close with those kind o-samurai-sama--

She no longer could follow the path of water, but Komachi could, and she was happy like this.

So she didn't marry.

Shirochiji had visited once, to say hello. He had come just in time, too; Rikichi's daughter had been born the night before, and everyone was celebrating, and glad to see him.

She had asked him about Kambei-sama, and he had shrugged.

"He stayed at the Firefly for a while," he said, "but he left three years ago and I haven't heard from him since."

Her heart fell. "What about--"

"I don't know anymore than you about Katsushiro, Kirara-dono," he said slowly. "Though I have heard rumors about a young samurai who does good far to the east."

She smiled a little at that.

He had left only a few days later, five years previous.

She had been almost nineteen then, still young, still of marrying age. But twenty-four was a different story, and no one pushed her, but they whispered in the corners.

such a loss, they whispered to themselves as she passed. Pretty girl like her, strong, smart... she'd have made a good wife now that she's no longer Water Priestess.

She shook a little, more with shame than with anger.

She was asleep still when some of the farmer rushed through town, shouting, "It's one of the o-samurai-sama! He's come back!"

She jerked herself out of bed as Komachi flung open the shoji. "Onee-sama, it's Katsu-noji!"

Her heart almost fell, but then she smiled.

He was taller, though not by much. His voice was deeper, though not by much. His hair was longer, but still in that familiar high ponytail. He was speaking quietly to Rikichi when she came down to the village proper; he exuded a quiet sort of strength that he hadn't had when she had last seen him and his orange cloak was gone, replaced with a ratty blue one.

But then he turned and focused his intense gaze on her and smiled and she knew it was still him.

She hugged him.

Hard, her arms coming around his chest hard enough to squeeze the breath out of his lungs. It made Komachi laugh at loud and Rikichi chuckle, especially when Katsushiro hugged her back and lifted her up spinning her around once.

"I missed you, Kirara-dono," he said, still smiling slightly. "All of you," he added when Komachi pouted behind her. The teen stuck his tongue out at him. He returned the favor.

"I missed you, too," she said, and kissed him on the cheek. He blushed hotly.

"I hope to stay for a while," he said slowly. "Is there someplace where I wouldn't be a burden?"

She smiled.

This has the possiblity of becoming a drabble series, maybe. *huggles KatsuKirara* I like this pairing so, so much.

Meanwhile, we got out early today and now it's practically a whiteout! It's really cool; I'm happy.

But my computer isn't connecting to the internet, grr...

nebulia out.
