The newest anti!RK animation rant.

Maybe I've been paying attention or haunting different places online or something, but I've been seeing a lot of stuff about how awesome Trust & Betrayal (I don't remember how to spell the Japanese name, I don't care) is.

W.T.F.

Perhaps it's good. I've seen it once. Like Seisouhen, it would be very nice if. There. Was. No. Manga.

And yet the whole thing is just like--waahh! It's like the anime, or Seisouhen--it's not as OOC as either of them, but it's still just crap against the manga. What is with the stupid OVA?

All these things happen in it that I'm just like, huh? Example: the scene where Tomoe--I assume--miscarries.

No. Way. Not. Happening.

I am a firm believer--given Kenshin's emotional shyness throughout his three-volume flashback and given Tomoe's being the way she is--that, if--and it still could be an if--KT consummated their love, they did it the night Tomoe talked about her childhood and Akira, which was just a day or two before her death. They might have loved each other, but I can't imagine either of them actually managing to come out in the open about it, married and alone in a cabin or not, unless such a big thing like that confession actually happened. Not to mention the empty two-person futon just seemed like a really subtle way of saying "They had sex. Because married people sleep on a two-person futon and married people have sex." And it's the first time you see said futon, anyway.

And, of course, I still think there's even the slight off-chance that Kenshin could still be a virgin up until the actual start of the manga. I tend to be pretty wishy-washy about those sorts of things. KT's little talk curled up in the blanket was a sort of consummation to me, a mental one, so the actual sex may or may not have happened and it really isn't. I tend to think it did--because Kenshin might be utterly and totally shy but he's also fifteen, not to mention that it seems to be implied in the manga--but it's still up in the air.

Thus--Trust and Betrayal, because of the obvious sex and many other reasons--is a load of crap. Not as much of a load of crap as Seisouhen, or even the anime (and I don't know about the movie because I haven't seen it), but it's still a load of crap.

ARGH!

And now I have to go so I can't finish ranting. DAMMIT.

The miscarriage was supposed to be Kiyosato's child :). You see, against popular belief, it was quiet popular in those times in Japan to have sex before marriage if two WERE going to get married- it was even how you announced the marriage to your families.

That said, my entire RK-obessed life I've had to deal with people telling me "I loved Samurai X, but I HATED the anime. They completly ruined Samurai X! You have something awesome and-ughhh"

And WHENEVER I TRY TO TELL PEOPLE THAT THE SERIES WAS MADE -BEFORE- THE OVA AND THE NAME CHANGE IS ONLY IN AMERICA (ok, other coutries as well, but ya) they go "But Samurai X is still better."

So then, I don't need to have Kenshin and Kaoru rush to get married after they have sex for the first time in my time line.

*sighs* Then again, by 1879, the Meiji government had probably made it illegal for unmarried people to have sex.

Well, I do think Tsuiokuhen is the best of the animated RK stuff. I'm hoping if the anime is remade, as you suggest, that it's a bit grittier in nature to match the manga; not as grim as Tsui, but definitely not so childish that they're putting Kenshin in a pink gi!

No, it wasn't illegal. Hell, it was never -ILLEGAL- it was just the whole shame-to-family thing of it.

Though I do, personally, think those two would get married right away, because of their circumstances. (And once again, them having sex equals they ARE gonna get married.)

Let's all hope *le sigh* I'm loosing hope in the reanimation theory. Haven't heard anything since, you know, March. Though of course, it might take them a bit to set up, if they -did- just begin it in March, but....

Well, since neither of them has a family, no worries. But yeah, I think they get married very soon too.

My guess is they could make a new RK anime in under two years since they don't have to wait for the mangaka this time around. They just need to draw it, animate it and do the voice acting.

Well, the story I read that explained that fact to me was really cute. It had them getting married like, in the week or two after Jinchuu where everyone's healing before everyone like, leaves *which makes sense* and had them fall asleep in the same room (no sex though!) and had like, Yahiko find them.

It was cute because he was like "Uhh... Kaoru, don't freak out, but Kenshin's not in his room- ahh, uhh..." and like ran off, lol.

So it was cute because it had their like, adopted family find them :). *Should re-read some of the old Jinchuu fics...*

Well, I think they'd only do Jinchuu, and it's really just a debate about whether RK's popular enough for an entirelly new series. *Sighs* I really hope that rumor was true...

Should ask Shaza if she's heard anything new in awhile *goes to do that*

Still, that bothers me, because in the manga I get the feeling that Akira/Tomoe haven't really told each other they loved each other yet; they've just been betrothed since childhood. It always seemed that Akira went to Kyoto to prove himself to Tomoe, and Tomoe always felt guilty because he died before she could tell him she loved him, because she felt that he left because she didn't tell him she loved him.

Hence, even with that brought to light--which makes it slightly better--I still think that it's all blech.
