That would make plenty of sense. Also, I've read a fair amount about how the text of the Bible has changed over time, from language to language, manuscript to manuscript. With those kind of errors, a few times things were just changed to fit the views of the writer, like you said, probably wouldn't be noticed, plus just regular, accidental errors. The nitpicky little rules might not even be in the original Bible--but the same overarching theme of love for God and man is. :)
