nebulia: a nebula (amused-gokusen)
So, I went to the Apple store to get Shin fixed. I managed the first five minutes in Spanish, the next three minutes in English, and then the guy and I ended up speaking in this really odd mixture of Spanish and English where he would ask "You necesita this ahorita?" And I would say, "Not ahora pero...soon?" And he would say, "Dos hours?" and I would say, "Si, esta bien, thanks."

Anyway, it was amusing.

But he replaced my hard drive, and now I have Leopard, which is kind of glorious, and 40 gig more of hard drive space, which is also glorious. :D

Spanish is going well. I'm beginning to understand things in general, more often. Not all the time, but...I can follow a conversation, for the most part. Which is cool. :D I'm hoping that understanding stuff will start to pick up as I gather more vocabulary; that seems to be my biggest problem now. I think I'm getting the hang of imperfect tense, thank god, and maybe para and por as well, and hopefully that indirect pronoun thing will just kind of randomly insert itself into my knowledge (the se la, etc. part before the verb is still a little confusing. D:

Hmm...tonight I saw the James Bond movie.

HOMG GO SEE IT. It's fantastic. It's just...fantastic. I would totally go gay for the chick in that movie, seriously; she kicked butt and she was beautiful and her voice was incredible. I love voices, the way they sound. Hers was lovely and low and feminine with a great accent...women with low voices are great. Like Rachel Weisz? She has such a low voice and yet she still sounds feminine. My voice is just a manvoice. XD Oh, and M was great in this one too. And James was exceptionally great; Daniel Craig is definitely my second favorite Bond. Sean Connery will always be first, though; you just can't beat Sean. You really can't. But Daniel Craig's fantastic. And hot. And he has the best blue eyes...dear Lord, the best blue eyes. I would very much like him to marry me. XD

But I digress. Anyway, it's awesome; go see it.

So. There's that...hmm...what else?

Tomorrow is Maree's 21st birthday; we're going to dinner and then dancing for it, so that should be fun. Whether or not I actually dance is up in the air, but I love to watch dancing, so it's okay. On Saturday I'm going to the ballet with a bunch of people too. I love watching good ballet; it's just gorgeous.

So that's the news from Lake Wobegon--er, I mean, San Jose. XD Not a whole lot going on; just kinda kicking back right now, I guess. I dunno.

nebulia: a nebula (take you home)
Alaska was a lot of fun, I'll give you that. But we missed our connection in Denver by 10 minutes and didn't get home until 1:30, a full 14 hours after we were supposed to.

On the other hand, CompUSA gave up on my computer so now I have a brand-new MacBook instead of Anneliese. *happydance*

Any ideas for names, hmm? I'm thinking Sawada Shin, as in Gokusen, but then I'm also thinking Shishio Makoto, as in Rurouni Kenshin. And, of course Remus Lupin, in honor of DEATHLY HALLOWS SPOILERS ). Or Heihachi, as in Samurai 7. I'm not sure yet.

Con is next week. Have to work on my cosplay.

Avatar. Boo Maiko. Hoorah 21 September! Hoorah Bryan and Mike! I love you! I'm super-excited. The third season looks AMAZING.

Am very tired. Don't really want to write. Later.

Been thinking about this recently; perhaps due to L. Mouse's fic A Rurouni Goes to College.

I believe, vaguely in my memory somewhere, that the Profiles book published in the US that I skimmed over in Borders stated Kenshin was about 158 cm (approximately, in my estimation, 5'3")--or was it 155? Well, anyway, one of those two and Kaoru was 3 cm shorter than him.

However, I've been scanning the manga and Kaoru is WAY more than three centimeters shorter than him. Because whenever she's in geta/zori (her zori are awfully tall, almost like okobo if you ask me, but then, she's not a maiko (hehe...Avatar pairings), and I can't see them very well), she's still shorter than him. Example, on page 78 of volume one, in the first panel. K&K are on the same level, but Kaoru is definitely shorter than Kenshin. It's not just their hair; Kenshin's eyes, nose and mouth sit above Kaoru's on the page as well. And Kaoru's in geta. Well, zori. At leas tin volume one she's in zori, but she says she's wearing geta when she catches up to Enishi in 27. But then that would make sense, since zori was worn with tabi and kimono and geta with yukata, which were worn a lot more often in the summer.

Of course, on the next page, where they're walking, they're pretty much the same height, but still.

Which makes me say Kenshin's about 5'2" (maaaybe) and Kaoru's hovering around 4'11." Since Kenshin is described as short (well, small) and we are in Japan here.

Or shorter. But, given what I know of proportions and crap, and given the height of Kaoru's shoes and the heights of K&K while Kaoru's in them, I'd put at least two inches between them, if not three. Not three centimeters.

But then, that's just my observing the manga...bah. What do I know? Except about Japanese footwear. XP

And anneliese isn't working again. She won't turn on, just like last time. I'm losing my patience here. A LOT.

Guess where I am right now?

That's right, upstairs, in my room, on Anneliese.

I could not be happier.

2 days till Christmas!

Finally managed to watch the Avatar season finale.

Sort of. There was definitely a Zutara moment there, but STILL! And ZUKO, WHYYYY? WHY?

He's totally going to run away or something. I sense it. And talk about the Happy!Zuko in The Guru? Scaaary, I tell you.

No school until two Wednesdays for now.

Anneliese will be finished tomorrow or Saturday, God willing.

Bad news: It rained all day. That would be very nice, but it's December 20. It was supposed to snow (at least in my mind), dammit!

Bad news: Quit my job today. It was affecting my grades and I need to play the field a little, try other stuff. It's kind of a rite of passage, but it's also a little sad. I liked being a disgruntled deli girl.

Good news: One day till break.

Good news: My altered book is done.

Bad news: I have tons of homework.

Good news: Anneliese can be fixed! In fact, I'm getting her tomorrow!

Bad news: I'm stressed.

Bad news: It's not snowing.

Bad news: I'm exhausted. I don't know if I'll ever be not tired again.

Do you see how this is?

And I quit my job. It's so...odd. But it's good. Now I just won't have any money anymore.

Oh boy!

Anneliese is being a bitch and not letting me on. Because of new updates and my own stupidity, but still, computers are supposed to be stupid-people friendly, dammit!

Four days of school left, four days of school left...have a prayer or a good thought or whatever for Anneliese and me; I really, really need her for finals. She has my story for Creative Writing on it.

Guess where I am?

In the kitchen, on Anneliese, with WIRELESS CONNECTION FROM HOME! *victory dance*

I am a happy camper.

The play last night--opening night--went well. The house was packed--it was probably the first toally sold-out house in 30 years, if ever. And it went really well, and we got a standing ovation before even the ensemble finished their bows.

Ummm...what leaving soon to go to school, because call time for the shows today is noon, and Fred Phelps is coming, so we have all these security precautions.

Seriously...I like this play. A lot. And I love drama. But I'm really tired of all the publicity, and though there's the adrenaline rush from actually performing for people, I'm really ready for it to be over and IHSSA to begin.

So. That's that.

nebulia: a nebula (shock!)
Woke up at 11 this morning. Watch me try to go to bed. Crap.

Took Anneliese in today. Two weeks and I get my baby back, hopefully all fixed.

Of course, if she's not, I'm after a new iBook. (Can't even remember if they still make them now...) But if not, it's a MacBook, I guess. But I like the dimensions of my iBook. Nice and square.

My room is finished, basically. We got my desk and stuff today; now all it needs is to be put back together. I have to sya I am addicted to my new lateral file. Filing is addictive. I strive to be the next Basil E. Frankweiler.

School tomorrow. It's back to reality. Shit.
